minimum wage |
I met this fellow a while back. The paper was running a story about minimum wage and how people were coping with it. He was living in a small apartment with hardly any furnishings that wasn't in the best of neighborhoods. He told me hi when I arrived and said he had put on his only tie for the portrait session because he wanted to look good. I asked him to tell me a little about his life while I shot some photos. Then he started telling me his life story just like that, I'd known him maybe a couple of minutes. He told he was dealing with bipolar disorder and had lost everything he owned, including his wife. This man had felt some real life pain, you could just tell, his eyes filling with tears as I shot photos. He talked about the life he once had and then how his disorder had drove him to alcohol and everything collapsed. But, he told me, I've finally found the right medicine and I think I'll be ok, at least I hope so. He is now working a warehouse job and was very thankful to have it. He told me hopefully one day he could start dating again. He is nice man and I wish him the best. I should go back and check on him.
