POPS! Under The Stars

Here are a few photos from the Augusta Symphony's Pops Under the Stars concert a week or so back. The top photo is of the conductor Donald Portnoy. I've shot a ton of photos of him but never one quite like this one. He's conducted orchestras all over the world and has won too many awards to list here. Mr. Portnoy is usually very serious about his music, but I caught this quick smile to his orchestra during their first song of the concert the other night, it's probably one of my all time favorites of him. The second photo is of bass-baritone Marc Rattray, in 1995 he was a world finalist in the Luciano Pavarotti International Voice Competition. He also has many musical accomplishments and has recently appeared as the bass soloist in a live South Carolina ETV broadcast and documentary of Mozart's Requiem. Take it from me, the boy can sing. And last, this little guy was catching bubbles from a nearby bubbles machine in his mouth. Wonder how that tasted?
