You shoot this one RAW? One of the things I love about the RAW plugin in Photoshop (CS2 or newer) is the ability to get both the sky and those flags properly exposed using the fill light, shadow and highlight sliders. Almost makes it too easy to cheat, though, because you can take a mediocre photo and make it really good. Takes a bit of the skill out of things.

Another one for you to try is shooting for HDR post-processing. Shooting one proper exposure, one under and one over and processing it with Photoshop's "Merge to HDR" function under the File > Automate menu (my 2nd choice in methods) or using a program like Photomatix Pro (1st choice by far!) gives you some amazing contrast and beautiful skies.

Here's one I took near Highlands, NC, at a little spot I think you might be familiar with...post-processing using Photomatix Pro (www.hdrsoft.com).
