Tonight was a special night. True North Church had their Face Down service, singing, communion, worship and prayer. As I watched tonight, I thought about Steve's message over the past couple of weeks....Scrap the Trap of Christmas....it has been a great series. Over the years I've watched this country worry about it's bottom line more than the true meaning of Christmas. Always a sale, always something promising you happiness on Christmas day but usually in a few days that new toy is put in the pile with the rest of them. I've heard that many retailers make as much as 40% or higher of their yearly income during Christmas. Maybe they need to change that mindset, maybe just maybe close earlier, give their employees more time off to enjoy family...maybe give some of that profit away to a worthy cause. Tonight I saw hundreds of people give a little back by donating socks and underwear to the Augusta Urban Ministries (two of the most needed items of the homeless). It's amazing what people can accomplish when they GIVE. It will be Christmas Eve in an hour and 43 minutes.....it's never too late to do some last minute giving.
